As much as we love your little ones, we’re making this a grown-ups-only celebration (apart from our nieces).
Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?
Everything will be indoors in case of the Scottish rain; however, we hope to enjoy a drinks reception outside if the weather is nice!
What should I wear?
Our wedding is formal attire – think dresses and suits. Some of our Scottish guests will be wearing kilts, and you are welcome to rent one too! For suggestions on where to rent a kilt for the day and style, just message Sarah or David. Make sure to pack shoes you can dance in (like sneakers you can change into for the active Ceilidh!) and ladies, bring along something warm to wear over your dress, as it can get cold and wet.
Do you have a registry?
Instead of a traditional registry, we have created a life-fund to help us as we prepare to buy our first home and settle into married life. Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for, especially since many of you are traveling great distances. If you still wish to contribute, it would be warmly appreciated, but it is in no way necessary.
What is a Ceilidh
A Scottish ceilidh (pronounced "kay-lee") is a traditional social gathering that involves lively Scottish folk music and group dancing.
At a ceilidh, people participate in ceilidh dances, which are typically performed in groups, pairs, or sets. These dances are led by a "caller," who gives instructions and guides participants through each step. Even if you don’t know the dances, you can easily join in and learn as you go.
Our live ceilidh band, The Jacobites, will be performing and providing the instructions. The band will likely feature traditional Scottish instruments such as fiddles, guitars, and drums.
